Файл:Coat of Arms of Switzerland (Pantone).svg

The "triangular" shield shape was frequently used by the federal administration throughout the 20th century, and adopted officially (as emblem of the federal administration, not necessarily as emblem of Switzerland as sovereign entity) in 2017. Precedents for this shield shape go back to designs dated to as early as 1815.

Note: The usage of coats of arms is governed by legal restrictions, independent of the copyright status of the depiction shown here.

WARNING: The Swiss coat of arms has special legal protection in the United States (US Code Title 18, Part I, Chapter 33, § 708) and other countries. This is unlikely to affect its use in Wikimedia projects; this special protection is required by the Geneva Conventions to avoid confusion with the Red Cross emblem (a color reversal of the Swiss emblem).
