Файл:Athena Nike Temple. Parapet. West slab. Athena.jpg

Fragmentarily preserved slab from the west side of the parapet that was constructed around the Temple of Athena Nike.

Athena sits idly on a rock leaning on her right hand. She is draped in a girded chiton and a himation that covers her thighs and legs. The goddess rests her crossed feet shod in sandals on a low rock and has her helmet on her knees. Her shield adorned with a gorgoneion is next to her supported against the rock.

It has been suggested that Athena turned towards the bull-sacrificing scene depicted on slab Ακρ. 997 which must have been placed in the middle of the bastion’s west side.
