«Властелин колец: Возвращение короля» собрал более 1,14 миллиарда долларов, что сделало его самым кассовым фильмом 2003 года в мире и Северной Америке и вторым по величине кассовым фильмом на тот момент. Это также был второй фильм, преодолевший рубеж в миллиард долларов после « Титаника» в 1997 году.
