Biography
Aisha Labib was the second wife of Naguib. The president spoke about her only a little in his book, “I was the president of Egypt.” Naguib married her in 1934, after he divorced his first wife after being married to her for 40 days only, and she was the daughter of a late military commander from the cavalry. Aisha lived with Mohamed during his reign and received presidents, kings and rulers, during Najib's tenure as president of the republic over a period of 19 months from June 18, 1953 until the date of his dismissal on November 14, 1954, where she was known after Najib took power as "Aisha Hanim."[1]
Aisha was living with her widowed mother and three daughters, respectively, Aziza, Fatima and Khadija, in a large house in Helmiyet Al-Zaitoun, which is the same neighborhood in which Najib lived with his wife later, and Aisha was living in poor financial conditions beside a large number of debts, as Naguib mentioned that his two families live on 80 pounds a month, despite their estate being 512 acres, but under the supervision of the judiciary and the Ministry of Endowments.[2]
After his marriage to Aisha, Naguib traveled to El-Arish in Sinai to pursuit dissidents in the army, and from her he had three male children Farouk, Ali, and Youssef, and she was the sister of his friend, Engineer Mahmoud Labib.
Aisha Labib moved with her husband to reside with him in the villa of Zainab Al-Wakeel in El Marg area, Cairo, after he was dismissed from his position and his residency was established in 1954. She suffered at the end of her life from obesity.[3] Aisha died in 1971 after the death of her son, Ali, two years prior, who was killed in an accident in Germany.[4]
