Wikipedia talk:Talk page guidelines

Striking out text with <s>...</s> or {{strike}} or marking text as deleted with <del>...</del> constitutes a change in meaning. It should be done only by the user who wrote it, or as otherwise provided in this talk page guideline.

Moving edits to closed discussions: A discussion which has been closed with the {{subst:Archive}} or similar template is intended to be preserved as-is and should not be edited. Subsequent edits inside of an archive box should not be removed for this sole reason, but may be moved below the box to preserve the integrity of the closed discussion.

There is a contradiction. Admins. Can anyone give a definitive answer? LandsGates (talk) 09:05, 1 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It seems like throughout Wikipedia, contributing to Wikipedia is described as a collaborative effort. But the talk page guidelines state you must not use the talk page as a forum for discussing the topic. I have a particular point that I think ought to be made in an article, but the sources I've found so far are not as good as I would like. On the article's talk page, I explain the point that I'm trying to make, asking for help in locating a good source, but somebody accuses me of discussing the topic, and I can't really dispute that, but evidently it's prohibited. IMO, this prohibition on discussing the topic is wrong. Is there anyplace on Wikipedia we can discuss that? Fabrickator (talk) 03:50, 4 July 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It should be changed to clearly state the the Subject ran for election a total of 3(three) times. The subject ran for elected office each time as a Republican. 2605:6000:9FC0:51:893D:6150:F164:571D (talk) 18:09, 27 July 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
