Это список исполнителей хэви-метала периода становления движения ( сформированного между 1963 и 1981 годами ). В конце 1960-х годов ряд групп начали раздвигать границы блюз-рока в новом жанре, который будет называться хэви-метал. [1] [2]

В 1981 году [3] появились три трэш-метал группы «Большой четверки» : Metallica , [4] Slayer [5] и Anthrax ; [5], к которому в 1983 году присоединился Megadeth , который был сформирован Дэйвом Мастейном после того, как он был уволен из Metallica . [6]
