Ташкент ( / т æ ʃ к ɛ н т / , США и / т ɑ ʃ - / ; русский: Ташкент , . Тр Ташкент , IPA:  [tɐʂkʲent] ), или Тошкент ( / т ɒ ʃ к ɛ н т / ; Узбекский : Toshkent / Тошкент / تاشكینت , IPA:  [tɒʃˈkent]), является столицей и крупнейшим городом Узбекистана , а также самым густонаселенным городом в бывшей советской Центральной Азии с населением в 2018 году 2 485 900 человек. Он находится на северо-востоке Узбекистана, недалеко от границы с Казахстаном .

До того, как в середине 8 века нашей эры началось исламское влияние, Ташкент находился под влиянием согдийской и тюркской культур. После того, как Чингисхан разрушил его в 1219 году, он был восстановлен и получил прибыль от Шелкового пути . С 18 по 19 века город стал независимым городом-государством , прежде чем был повторно завоеван Кокандским ханством . В 1865 году Ташкент попал в состав Российской империи и стал столицей Российского Туркестана . В советское время здесь наблюдался значительный рост и демографические изменения из-за принудительных депортаций.со всего Советского Союза. Under former president Karimov, who served from 1991-2016, the palace was the seat of the executive branch in the country.     The Tashkent tramway network formed part of the public transport system in Tashkent, the capital city of Uzbekistan. The network opened with horsecars in 1901. Since 1912 the system was converted to electric tramway. As of its closing in 2016, the network consisted of six lines of 87.8 kilometres (54.6 mi) of route, a decline from the tram system's maximum of 24 lines.

    Tashkent Mayor Rakhmonbek Usmonov announced on March 29, 2016, that the network would close by year's end in order to make way for more cars and thus aid in reducing congestions within the capital. City-owned operating company Tashgorpastrans also plans to sell the 30 KTM-19 and 20 Vario LF trams, which it acquired in 2007 and 2011, respectively. The system was closed on May 2, 2016.     The Tashkent Metro (Uzbek: Toshkent metropoliteni) is the rapid transit system serving the city of Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. It was the seventh metro to be built in the former USSR, opening in 1977, and is one of only two subway systems currently operating in Central Asia (the other one being the Almaty Metro). Its stations are among the most ornate in the world, and unlike most ex-Soviet metros, the system is shallow (similar to the Minsk Metro).

    The Tashkent Metro consists of four lines, operating on 59.5 kilometres (37.0 mi) of route and serving 43 stations. In 2013, the metro carried 59.2 million passengers, which corresponds to a daily average of approximately 162,200 riders. (Full article...)

  • Afrosiyob high-speed train

    The Tashkent to Samarkand high-speed rail line is a 344-kilometre (214 mi) high-speed rail connection between Tashkent and Samarkand, the two largest Uzbek cities. The route passes through four provinces: Tashkent, Sirdaryo, Jizzakh and Samarqand in Uzbekistan. Trains operate seven days a week under the brand Afrosiyob. A 141 km long extension to Qarshi started operation on August 22, 2015, though at lower speed of 160 km/h. An extension to Bukhara on the Talgo 250 ran for the first time on August 25, 2016 — marking the completion of a project to modernise the 256 km route from Samarkand. Travel from Tashkent to Bukhara, a distance of 600 km, will now take 3 hours and 20 minutes instead of 7 hours. (Full article...)

  • The 1966 Tashkent earthquake (Uzbek: Toshkent zilzilasi; Russian: Ташкентское землетрясение) occurred on 26 April in the Uzbek SSR. It had a magnitude of 5.1 with an epicenter in central Tashkent at a depth of 3–8 kilometers (1.9–5.0 mi). The earthquake caused massive destruction to Tashkent, destroying most of the buildings in the city, killing between 15 and 200 people and leaving between 200,000 to 300,000 homeless. Following the disaster, most of the historic parts of Tashkent had been destroyed and the city was rebuilt, modelled on Soviet architectural styles. Soviet authorities created an Institute of seismology in order to forecast future earthquakes. (Full article...)
  • FC Pakhtakor Tashkent (Uzbek: Paxtakor futbol klubi) is an Uzbek professional football club, based in the capital city Tashkent, that competes in the Uzbekistan Super League. Pakhtakor literally means "cotton-grower" in English.

    Pakhtakor was the only Uzbek club to play in the top-level Soviet football league and was the only Central Asian club to appear in a Soviet Cup final. Playing in the Uzbek League since 1992, the club has been the undisputed powerhouse in Uzbekistan since the fall of the Soviet Union, winning ten Uzbek League titles, including six in a row from 2002 to 2007. Pakhtakor also won seven consecutive domestic cups between 2001 and 2007, winning eleven cups in total. Players for the club have won Uzbek footballer of the Year honours eight times, and Pakhtakor teammates swept the top three spots in 2002. Club managers have been named Uzbek coach of the year twice.
