Legoland Japan (レゴランド・ジャパン, Regorando Japan) is a theme park in Nagoya, Japan. It opened on April 1, 2017.[1] It is the first Legoland theme park in Japan, the second in Asia after Legoland Malaysia Resort, and the eighth worldwide.[2] The park is projected to attract over two million visitors annually.[3]

History
On June 30, 2014, Merlin Entertainments announced plans to open a Legoland Resort in Nagoya.[4] Construction officially began on April 15, 2015.[5]
With a 250 million budget, the construction was carried out by Art and Project, TAA Group, and Tejix. The designers responsible were Art and Project, EDG Company, FORREC and Scruffy Dog. The companies supplying the rides were Art Engineering, Bertazzon, ETF, Hafema, Lagotronics Project, Mack Rides, Metallbau Emmeln, Sansei Technologies, SB International, Sunkid, WhiteWater, Zamperla, Zierer. Additional suppliers were Accesso, Alcorn McBride, Attractions.io, Christie Digital, Gateway, SAP, TAA Group, Tejix.[6]
The park located in Nagoya’s Minato Ward has more than 40 attractions on the 9 hectare site (22.24 Acres) which uses a total of 17 million bricks. The attraction “Imagination Celebration” was completed March 12, 2017. Cityscapes of places like Tokyo and Nagoya are reproduced with Lego plastic bricks in the Legoland Japan theme park in Nagoya’s Minato Ward on March 17, 2017.[7]
On March 27, 2017, a commemorative Legoland-themed train started running on the Nagoya Rinkai Rapid Transit Aonami Line to celebrate the opening of the park.[8]
The commuter train, named LEGOLAND Train, began daily service on the Nagoya Rinkai Rapid Transit’s Aonami Line. This transit line travels from central Nagoya to the new theme park. President Jensen commented on the newly developed LEGOLAND Train. “Today, I am extremely honored to be able to introduce the LEGOLAND Train, the only one of its kind in the world in Nagoya, after plans for it were put into motion nearly three years ago,” said Torben Jenson, Divisional Director of LEGOLAND Japan. He also gives credit to the city of Nagoya and the Aonami transit line for their support.[9]
LEGOLAND Japan is the eighth place in seven countries in the world. The theme park has seven different areas to encounter and more than 40 attractions and shows.[10]
The Central Transportation Bureau of Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transportation announced that it approved buses of three companies. The outdoor park themed on Lego was shown to the media prior to its April 1, 2017 opening.[11] The theme park offered an annual passport, and if purchased before April 2017, and early preview day would be granted.[12]
Legoland Japan officially opened on April 1, 2017.[1] The entrance admission is ¥6,900 for adults and ¥5,300 for kids aged 3–12. Many news sources commented on the ticket prices, which are comparable to Tokyo Disneyland's ticket prices despite the Legoland park being considerably smaller.[13]
LEGOLAND Japan released their first annual pass. The “first to play pass” was released before their grand opening which passholders can purchase to have yearly access along with special benefits.[14]
President Jensen commented on making LEGOLAND a resort. “The point is to come and visit and stay overnight, we have a long-term plan to make it a resort.”[15] On April 28,2018 LEGOLAND rebranded as "Legoland Japan Resort."[16]
Merlin Entertainments plans to build a Legoland Hotel and a Sea Life aquarium next to the park in 2018 to help turn the area into a resort, which is expected to cost 10 billion yen.[13]

On February 28, 2020, the park was closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The park reopened on March 23, 2020 with short business hours, staff wearing masks, and temperature checks.[20][21] The LEGOLAND Japan theme park was initially to reopen March 16, 2020 but will reopen Monday, March 23, 2020 due to the coronavirus. However, not all services will be available. Lego Ninjago Live, the observation tower, Submarine Adventure, The Coral Reef buffer and Knight’s Table restaurant also will not be in operation. Merlin’s Sea Life aquarium in Nagoya is also scheduled to reopen Monday, March 23, 2020. A statement released on behalf of LEGOLAND Japan regarding safety measures due to the Coronavirus said the following, “To prevent the spread of infection and the safety and health of our guests and staff, we will strengthen measures against the new coronavirus in accordance with the guidelines from administrative authorities and medical experts. We will continue to ask each and every guest to cooperate so that children and their families can spend their time safely in the resort.”[22]
Location
When arriving at the park there is an area for those waiting to get into the park. Once passing the line and walking through the sign above. Entering into Legoland japan, you are welcomed in with large artistry, and sculptures of Lego figures. Walking past the iconic sign of Legoland there are buildings that are colored to attract the attention of the guess. Walking all around the park there are buildings with options of dining in, or shops.There are many different ways to get to the park from bus, to trains, and driving yourself. They have it to make it easier to get from the bus straight to the park with no hassle. Legoland is located away from the mainland with three different ways to access the park.
Once arriving at the park, the first thing you notice is the sculptures of Lego creatures and life-size animals. When walking through the park, starting off on the east side the places to discover is Bricktopia, Mini Land, Adventure, Lego city, around back to Knight Kingdom, Pirate Shores and Factory.In the center of the entrance, there is a huge good skyscraper that will lift you to the very top and oversee the park.The park provides guests transportations to those who are needing wheelchairs, even stroller rentals.
Bricktopia
This building is full of activities and it is creating fun adventures.“There are also robotic workshops in which children can learn to program and build their own robots.”When going towards bricktopia, there are building and test, label created workshops. And a few other places that are interactive with kids’ imagination Imagination celebration,Observation tower, Chicken diner, and PINO cart.
Mini land
Mini land is in the center of the park. “In the Miniland area you will find reproductions of the main touristic spots in Japan, using more than 10,496,352 LEGO® bricks.” Because it is in the center there is Kobe Port tower to be able to see all of the park.
Adventure
Adventure has fun activities for children to play, with interactive games and maze-like areas. Adventure is located on the east side of the park, where you’ll find imagination celebration. “In this area you will find LEGO® divers, an underwater adventure with different water attractions.” The Adventure also has a submarine ride for anyone who would love to explore the underwater. There are a few more places that would have your taste buds satisfied. The interesting places you can go to are the Artifact Shop, The Sub Shop,Oasis snacks, and Corals reef Pizza and pasta Buffet.
Lego city
Lego city is on the north side of the park with fun activities for the kids and family to do together such as Junior driving school and coast guard at HQ. “At LEGO® City children can learn to drive an electric car at the Driving School (at the end of the ride they receive a driver’s license), either fly by plane, or drive a boat.” Beside kids able to learn how to drive, they can also visit the Fire Academy attractions where they have an experience learning to a fire track on the lane. Another thing is that the resort has a Lego Cinema where everyone is welcome to watch any Lego movies.Lego City has varies places to visit which is Studio store, Heart lake shop, and City shops, these shops have different themes. Also they have three different places to buy a snack or lunch which is Pit stop juice ‘n’ drive, Brick house burgers, and Marina snack shack.
Knights kingdom
Knights kingdom is located on the northwest side of the park with the feeling of traveling back in time. “This is a medieval land full of attractions such as the roller coasters The Dragon or Dragon’s Apprentice.” There are also fun activities to do such as the dragon, kingdom games, and places to shop as well as one good restaurant in this area. Places to buy and dine are King’s market and Knight’s Table Restaurant.
Pirates shores
Pirate shores are the land of the Pirates and are centered with water. A fun activity is splash bottle castaway camp archery away archers away pirate look up and fun shopping and good food to eat at. The Lost Booty Trading Post is a gift shop where everyone can buy souvenirs and the place to have snacks is Walk the Plank Snacks.
Factory
The factory is located on the west south side of the park. “ What better way to see how the famous building bricks are fabricated by touring the factory. At the end of the tour you receive a new piece of LEGO® from the production line to take home as a souvenir.” Lego, factory “In this area we must highlight the following stations: The Big Shop: You can collect the photos taken in the park here. You can create an original photo album with the Legoland album limited edition. The Corner Shop uses the picking package service. The souvenirs that you buy in the park you can leave here to pick them up later when leaving the park. “You also have the rental service for strollers and wheelchairs.” There are shops near the corner shop, The photoshop, The Big shop, Ice factory, and Factory sandwich co.
Rides and attractions
The theme park includes several rides as well as a miniature town that includes landmarks such as Tokyo Station, Kiyomizu Temple in Kyoto and Nagoya Castle.[23] The park is divided into seven zones: Factory, Bricktopia, Pirate Shores, Knight's Kingdom, Adventure, Lego City, and Miniland.[24] Most rides were imported, installed and modified to meet Japanese gulations by Sansei Technologies, Inc. Since the opening of the Legoland Japan resort in 2017, there have been new rides and attractions opening up over the years. These attractions include Lego Ninjago World, Legoland Hotel, and Sea Life Aquarium.

The park is close to Kinjō-futō Station on the Nagoya Rinkai Rapid Transit Aonami Line.

Japan Legoland Resort offers 12 stores, each store is located in different locations. Although these stores have different theme, guests are able to pick any type of lego they want. These stores do their best to produce the legos the guests wants.

The resort offers 6 popular restaurants for guests to visit, most of the restaurants are based on the area’s theme. These family restaurants will also bring entertaining activities while having a meal at any of these restaurants. Their purpose is for the families to feel welcome and to feel the luxury the resort has to offer them.

Creative Workshop
The resort has a Creative Workshop that offers types of workshops such as Daruma, Tensegrity, and Caterpillar.[60] The workshops are open for all ages except for Tensegrity. They advised everyone that each workshop has a difficult level depending on everyone. There could be strict regulations due to the pandemic and everyone should be aware of it.
