It returned to the schedule in May 2020 after NASCAR announced it would be running one Darlington race in May (the fall Sport Clips Haircuts VFW 200 date still stood, which is held on Labor Day weekend accompanying the Southern 500), replacing the Chicagoland Speedway race as part of the changes to it due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[2] On October 30, 2020, NASCAR announced the 2021 Xfinity Series schedule, which like the Cup Series schedule, will feature two races at Darlington during the season (the May and September weekends).[3]
Mark Martin has led all drivers in race wins with five. Only three other drivers, Harry Gant, Jeff Burton and Dale Earnhardt won multiple Darlington 200s, with Gant and Burton winning three times and Earnhardt two.
